Abstract

This research, which is based on MBTI(Myers and Briggs Type indicator) 16 character types related to Psychological theory of Jung, is to instruct the cadets to achieve desirable characters. For this research, 51 cadets of Armed Forces Nursing Academy have volunteered to take part in this experiment. The experiment was carried out in groups by those who have achieved MBTI mid level. Analyzation of the character types shown is inscribed in actual numbers and percentages. Group work results related to this experiment is extracted also. Results are as below. 1. Cadets¡¯ MBTI type distribution was consistent in whole, and it was similar to distribution of general korean women and college students. However one distinctive feature found in the result was that introversion type(50.45) and extroversions type(49.55) percentages were nearly equally divided where as general korean women¡¯s(61%) and college students¡¯(56%) introversion types percentages were higher than extroversions types. 2. 51 cadets¡¯ MBTI distribution showed 52.9% of extroversions and 47.1% of introversion. Other types percentages were S-J(Sensing-Judgement)type33.3%, SP(Sensing-Perception) type 25.5%, NT(intuition-Thinking)type 21.6%, N-F(Intuition-Feeling)type 19.6%. 3. Group works were carried out by observing reactions of 5 questions shown in each groups which were divided by types. The questions were of relationship, what they dislike, their view on the regulations, planning quality, how they lead their junior cadets. a. S-J type preferred formal relationship, kept the regulations, was punctual , was FM to their merit. They liked being responsible, planned their moves and leaded their junior cadets with emotional education. b. S-P type preferred wide relationship, found repeated daily life hard to endure, regulations were kept because it was essential in group life, they act before they think when they are working, and they lead their juniors according to circumstances. c. N-T type preferred receptive relationship, disliked showy ceremonies, and insists on unreasonable regulations when their opinion isn¡¯t accepted. Usually their work is summarized first and then particular works are partially divided. They disliked weak junior cadets and public duties were first then their private duties. They leaded their juniors in a way that the juniors can realize their mistakes by themselves. d. N-F type concerned about others and thought high of acknowledgment, disliked regulations or anything decidedly the same. They kept the regulations because they were cadets and they plan their move for a month but their actual plan doesn¡¯t hold particular difference with other types. They are not interested in leading their juniors but lead them logically as they were leaded. Cadet instruction using MBTI ,based on group work results, are below. 1. MBTI¡¯s goal is to acknowledge their types, abilities, establish their identity, and offer information for their self development. 2. Understanding each other based on their self acknowledging ability and knowledging individual differences such as main, appendent, 3Â÷, malfunction etc. 3. To understand self and others more easily use MBTI data for individual or group counsel. 4. If adapted well in the point of MBTI¡¯s view help adapting to the type to be well functioned and in comfortable state. 5. As a part of this education self understanding, understanding others, adaption and trouble, search of interest can also be next steps to this program.
